Bat bugs are literal parasites. They are tiny little creatures that latch onto and drink Poway bats blood (an ironic twist for Dracula), but if a bat isn't present, human blood will do for them. They look very similar to their similar sounding cousins, the bed bug, but the way to eradicate them is.
The good news is that there isn't any disease causing pathogen that California bat bugs give to humans. However, their bites are known to give (to more sensitive people) a variety of mental health issues such as insomnia, panic attacks, and anxiety.
The best way form of offence is defence. This means keeping them out. This includes ensuring that you do not have any unnecessary contact with bats, and finding a way to remove them if they are in your house.
However if this is too late and you see a walking appleseed, near a chimney, the best thing to do is identify it and try and nip it in the bud, as the more you leave it the more costly it could become
Once you have removed all the bags in your house then the question of how to ensure that no Poway bat bug lives is brought up.
But how to kill them?
The most effective way is by using a residual insecticide anywhere you can think that they may be. Ensure that you have a thorough cleaning and leave no spot spare, by pay extra close attention to areas where California bats may have been beforehand (this can be done by seeing places which have access to the outside or by looking for guano droppings) as they will more than likely be near there. These bugs need to be taken seriously as unfortunately these nuisances are on the rise.
