Do artificial owls keep away Poway birds?

Birds can be a nuisance creature, especially if they are trying to eat your livelihood, or if you just dabble in a little vegetable patch in your garden, these freeloaders can reduce this to nothing. Methods people have been using for years to keep California birds out such as scarecrows have worked to a point. But what about fake owls? Do they work against other birds?

Smaller Poway birds natural prey is the owl, and they do steer clear of them, but what about the fake versions? Apart from not being an awful accessory in your garden the fake owls can look really realistic, and can work in some cases

The ways in which they work
One of the ways that they work is if you have a small California bird problem (small as in physically small), a fake owl placed somewhere such as a tree may work in order to keep them out.

The ways in which it does not work
However, these cool looking pieces of rubber maybe more of a pain than a salvation, as although small Poway birds such as robins will steer clear of your house other, larger birds will not care. This results in the problem not going away. Furthermore, you also have to constantly maintain your imaginary friend, as if it has been knocked down by the wind or an animal it needs to be put back up. Furthermore, some animals may decide to attack the fake owl, especially as it does not move.

Alternative methods
One of the alternative methods you can try is by using spikes to stop California birds landing near areas where they are unwanted. Other methods can also include water sprinkler systems, which deter birds as well as quite a few other pests, or simply owning a pet such as a cat.
